Van City Grant

In 2022, Van City generously gave artsREACH a grant that would be used to provide a series of Clay Workshops to youth living on local Indigenous Nations: Esquimalt, Songhees, Tsawout and Tsartlip. The goal is to  introduce the children, teachers and parent volunteers to experiences in using clay art projects to enhance the children’s creativity, satisfaction in building their own pieces and to increase their self-esteem. Also, the grant has provided funds to train and inservice youth to develop skills in: using clay, working with children and learning ‘job’ expectation strategies. The ideal is to build capacity on the Nations.

THANK YOU VANCITY

In 2023/24 artsREACH with funding from Sidney’s Community Arts Council- ArtSea, planned, developed and provided Visual Arts Workshops to over 40 children who attended the after-school- programme for elementary school aged children at Greenglades Community Centre in Saanich. This has been a special and exciting time working with the children and staff to provide a series of - Painting, Print Making, Acrylics on Canvas and Clay Making explorations and lessons to the children. The joy and wonder of the children participating was infectious. All the work by the children was then  professionally mounted and displayed during the months of February and March of 2024 in a wonderful Art Gallery Exhibit at Panorama Recreation Centre. The children and families were thrilled to see their artwork on display and the community was very supportive with their positive comments and kudos and honouring of the children’s work!

THANK YOU ARTSEA AND PANORAMA REC CENTRE

Tea Cup Tree
Family Fundraiser

Serendipity and Generosity are alive and well!…..artsREACH is fortunate to be the recipient of both. In early 2023 the Wilson-Palmer family, of Victoria,  approached artsREACH Board members with a yearly donation and an idea to fund raise for the children’s workshops! The Wilson-Palmers have a well known tourist attraction, the Tea Cup Tree of James Bay, in honour of their grandmother. The flower blossoms and hanging tea cup decorations bring thousands of visitors each year to the site. The family suggested that they could set up signs encouraging tourists to donate to artsREACH. Their generosity and creativity are the very types of support that artsREACH appreciates and relies on.
