Theatre
In-School Theatre Workshops
Our professional theatre instructors motivate and engage all the children in a 60 minute class that offers high-energy activities, group games, scene creations and more. Children and classroom teachers are captivated with how the students respond!
Engaging in theatre enhances a child's creativity, imagination, and collaboration skills. Instructors model patience and the skills of watching others perform. The classes offer the children activities which lead to better communication and strong team work. The children have the opportunity to discover new emotions while understanding a character or being an audience. The session is portioned into time for warm ups, group games, scene work and when time permits, a class reflection time.
Clay
In-School Clay Workshops
Children love to get their hands involved in clay making projects and creating pinch pots, tiles, fantastic creatures, animal figures, and much much more.
Our instructors provide two sessions per class. The first clay workshop is 90 minutes long, in which the children learn basic skills and techniques for working with clay- how to wedge the clay, make and use slip to affix pieces, create pinch pots, coil pots, slab pieces, masks and other creative projects. Each child will end up with one piece of clay work. The second workshop occurs one week later when the instructor comes back to demonstrate how to dab and paint glaze onto the air dried clay works. Then these pieces are taken away to be fired in a kiln and brought back to the children to enjoy and take home, unless the school has their own kiln. *artsREACH has implemented a new technique of omitting a first firing which is effective in the workshop time available.
